The name "Pengo" means "gap" in Swahili. We are seeking to find and create different kind of gaps in the walls that are very present in our daily life and work. Walls that are built through hierarchic, exclusive and postcolonial structures.
We want to empower young artists from Uganda, Ruanda and Germany to get connected and to find gaps in-between to share their art and visions.
With an international team and three local teams in each participating country we are searching for transparent organizational structures, which enable us to start a reflection process about our own works and how to avoid reproducing postcolonial structures.
Through workshops and discourse formats we aim to create different exchange formats, including workshops and discussions about sustainable international cooperations. Therefore we are collaborating with different institutions and partners in Uganda, Ruanda and Germany.

Establishing new digital and live discourse and workshop formats about postcolonial structures and sustainable collaboration structures
We are aiming to build up different team structures, based on a central structured international team, and decentral structured local teams.
The International Team is central organized, it is responsible for creating the five years agenda, creating an international awareness for the project and holding the local team activities on line.
The local teams are decentral organized. Each team has different organizational structures, based on the current local situation. The local teams are only responsible for activities in their own country.
ALL OF THESE STRUCTURES SHOULD BE AT ALL TIME TRANSPARENT AND VISIBLE. WE WANT TO CREATE SUSTAINABLE COLLABORATION STRUCTURES ON A LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL LEVEL.
Through collaborations with different institutions and partners we want to expand the Pengo Network and find new perspectives and visions through these collaborations. Our current partners are:
